NCCC Practical Nursing Program to offer evening classes

Thu, Dec 13th 2018 03:05 pm

Beginning in the fall of 2019, Niagara County Community College will begin offering evening classes to students in the practical nursing program. NCCC is known to have a robust collection of clinical experiences for students in the program, including hospitals, health care facilities, and community agencies in Niagara, Orleans and Erie Counties, and adding evening classes allows for additional flexibility and convenience for students from varying backgrounds.

“Niagara County Community College (NCCC) is the ‘smart place to start’ for anyone wanting to earn a degree. The NCCC nursing program recognizes the need to offer a LPN evening option for those who want to become a nurse, but have families or work obligations. This evening program will be implemented to cater to individuals who otherwise would not be able to attend the typical morning or afternoon programs. All classes will be after 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday,” said Diane Roth, assistant vice president of Academic Affairs for Nursing and Allied Health.

The mission of the practical nursing program at NCCC is to educate individuals who will provide safe, patient-centered nursing care in today’s diverse healthcare environment, while demonstrating caring behaviors, utilizing critical thinking, and maintaining professional integrity. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Council License Examination (NCLEX-PN) for practical nurses through the State Education Department. Notably, NCCC students have a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-PN.

Applications for the fall program will be accepted through Feb. 1, 2019.  To view admission requirements and to discover more about the practical nursing program, visit http://niagaracc.suny.edu/programs/pncr/.
