Nearly 100 full-time union health care workers at Catholic Health's Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston are working to find new job placements following an announcement that the hospital would cut critical patient services for rural Niagara County residents.

NYS Department of State: $100,000 in funding to assist with housing security in east Buffalo

New York Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez announced $100,000 in funding will be allocated to the Community Action Organization of Western New York to assist East Buffalo residents with housing security. The funding will be used to provide case management and rental and mortgage assistance to 100 families and individuals to prevent evictions and help families maintain safe, stable and permanent housing.

Funds from the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Charitable Golf Tournament, on Aug. 7-8 at Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course in Lewiston and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, will support the fourth World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference. The Seneca Nation will host the conference in July 2024, marking the first time it will be held in the U.S.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 23-year-old Lewis A. Keys of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek to one count of manslaughter in the first degree (class "B" violent felony). The defendant pleaded guilty, as charged, to the only count in the indictment against him.
