'AGT' welcomes back Darcy, Preacher; Queen Latifah to be guest judge

Academy Award-nominated and Emmy, Golden Globe and Grammy winner Queen Latifah ("Hairspray," "Star") will join "America's Got Talent" as a special guest judge on Tuesday, Sept. 10 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT). She will appear alongside "AGT" judges Simon Cowell, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, Howie Mandel, and host Terry Crews, as the remaining acts take the stage to perform live at the Dolby Theatre.

Fundraiser nets $10,000+ for inclusive playground

Village of Lewiston Deputy Mayor Vic Eydt joined with Ashley Olds, Bill Kilmer and Linda Fleck in presenting the municipality with $10,201 on Monday for the new inclusive playground project. The funds were generated at last month's "Moose's Mission" fundraiser, which was presented by Lower Niagara Moose Lodge No. 584 and Women of the Moose Chapter 1940.
W.O.W. returns to Grand Island

Hosted by Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, the ladies of W.O.W. will study the Old Testament books of Exodus, Judges and Ruth. The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team will open its main training camp on Thursday, Sept. 12, when veteran players are scheduled to report for testing and physicals. Training camp will be held primarily at KeyBank Center, with sessions on Sunday, Sept. 15, Thursday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Sept. 27 open to the public.
Higgins & Kennedy: $10.6 million in new funding for rehab of Ohio Street lift bridge

Congressman Brian Higgins and New York State Sen. Tim Kennedy were joined by community leaders to announce $10.625 million in new funding for renovation to the Ohio Street lift bridge. The recent allocation, through the Federal Highway Administration's National Highway Freight program with matching funds through New York state, is in addition to $5.23 million in previously allocated federal and state transportation funds, providing a total investment of $15.855 million for the Buffalo infrastructure project.

The Wheatfield Lions Club invited their counterparts, the St. David Lions Club from Canada; as well as area service and business groups to a steak dinner at Five Senses Nature Park for their fifth annual Service Club Steak Night. Clubs included the Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis, Wheatfield Business Association, Town of Niagara Lions, and the Niagara County Central Rotary Club.
