Vortex VR holds official grand-opening celebration

Niagara Falls has a new hub for locals and tourists alike. Vortex VR Arcade, located on the third floor of the One Niagara Welcome Center at 360 Rainbow Blvd., held its grand opening Sunday with a Halloween party. As part of the opening ceremony, Mayor Robert Restaino cut the ribbon, officially opening the facility.

The CREATE Project will present the premiere of "Tradition, Trauma, & Tenderness" at the Historic Lewiston Opera Hall, 732 Center St., on Saturday, Nov. 11. There is a $5 admission to watch the 90-minute film, which will screen at 6 p.m. This event is open to the public.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 36-year-old Richard C. Frazier of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday morning before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to one count of attempted assault in the first degree (class "C" violent felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest count in the indictment against him.

Congressman Brian Higgins welcomed the news that the government of Canada is giving owners affected by the Underused Housing Tax until April 30, 2024, to file 2022 taxes without penalties. The announcement of the extension comes days after Higgins, who serves as co-chair of the Northern Border Caucus, called for a suspension of tax collection until the findings of a cost-benefit analysis and a House of Commons report are released.
