'Big R': 14th 'Labor Night at the Races' this Friday night

Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino announced country music superstar Brad Paisley will perform outside at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. Then, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, The Machine will take to the outdoor stage. Tickets go on sale at noon this Friday, June 16.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the $10 million commercial and industrial accelerated efficiency program. This program assists large energy-intensive entities in their efforts to reduce on-site consumption of fossil fuels through energy efficiency and electrification actions. This program will provide up to $5 million per project that is proposed to be completed and operational by 2025.
O'Hara summer camps offered

Sunday motor vehicle accident in Wheatfield

On June 11 at 01:42 a.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Division received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle accident on Plaza Drive, in the Town of Wheatfield. Initial responding deputies observed a vehicle, which had struck an apartment complex located at 6855 Plaza Drive.

The Seneca Nation is hosting a two-day event of fun and camaraderie to support an important cause. Funds from the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Charitable Golf Tournament, on Aug. 7-8 at Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course in Lewiston and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, will support the fourth World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference. The Seneca Nation will host the conference in July 2024, marking the first time it will be held in the U.S.

On Friday, Chief Frank Previte was patrolling in the area of Creek Road and Jeffersons Way when he observed a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle. First aid was immediately started with the help of a nearby resident. The driver of the motorcycle, a Ransomville resident, was treated by Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1 and transported to ECMC.

Forecasts show the New York City metropolitan area, Long Island and Western New York regions will be experiencing air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups, while Central New York, the Lower Hudson Valley, Upper Hudson Valley and Eastern Lake Ontario regions are experiencing moderate air quality.

Hudson, age 29, of murder in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, in the killing of 28-year-old Mariah Wilson in her Niagara Falls apartment on Sept. 4, 2020.
