USDA disaster designation for New York to assist farms impacted by May freeze event

State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced 31 counties across New York were designated as a primary natural disaster area by the U.S. Department of Agriculture following the late May frost/freeze event.

One of the most anticipated races of the season is this coming Tuesday at the Ransomville Speedway as the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series will be in competition for the Ron Martin Memorial Summer Nationals, and the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series will be in action for the third annual Mike Bonesky Memorial. Both races are in honor and memory of two individuals who dedicated their lives to racing and the Ransomville Speedway.

Saturday morning shooting in Niagara Falls

On Saturday morning at approximately 4:20 a.m., Niagara Falls Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Fourth Street. Two adult males were transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in private vehicles suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other victim was stabilized and transported to ECMC where he is in critical condition.
Respite available for moms

NYS: Local sales tax collections increased by 3% in July compared to last year

Local sales tax collections in New York state grew by 3% in July compared to the same month in 2022, according to an analysis released by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Overall, local collections totaled $1.82 billion, up $53.3 million compared to the same time last year.
