US average price for gasoline drops slightly; oil prices remain volatile

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $4.98, down 3 cents from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.07. The New York state average is $5.01 (5.008), down 3 cents since last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.13.
It's a 'Better View' for Switch

Switch released their "Better View Deluxe" album last week (Sony Music/Provident's Essential Worship). In addition to the songs from "Better View, Part I" and "Better View, Part II," the deluxe edition offers two new tracks, "All Day Long" and "This Is The Love"; never-before-heard acoustic versions of "Better View" and "If U Only Knew"; and a radio edit of "perfection."
WNY dairy farmers to be recognized on 'Dairy Day' at Erie County Fair

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, in June 2020, Bonnie Nevans and Crystal Still came up with an idea to help the community feel a sense of togetherness. That idea was a mural created by anyone interested in participating. Each volunteer was given a packet of materials, with directions on how to create a small portion of the mural. The individual pieces looked very abstract, and neither Nevans nor Still told any of the participants what the entire piece would look like.
DiNapoli: Local sales tax collections grew by nearly 17% in May

Local sales tax collections in New York state increased by 16.7% in May compared to the same month in 2021, according to an analysis released by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Overall, local collections totaled $1.7 billion, up $242 million from May of last year.

Morinello to sponsor car seat safety check at Niagara SPCA

Assemblyman Angelo Morinello is sponsoring a free car seat safety check at the Niagara SPCA from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 23. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be on site inspecting car seats to help ensure child safety. There will be a variety of food, including hot dogs, baked goods and ice cream available for sale. The Niagara County SPCA also will have meet-and-greet pet adoptions.

Christian Heights Camp marks 75 years

Christian Heights Camp is celebrating its 75th anniversary July 2-3. As families sought to recover from the trauma of World War II, several members of the LaSalle Church of Christ wanted to form a camp for their children to have Christian recreation opportunities. They pooled their resources and, in 1947, purchased the Milks family dairy farm in the Town of Napoli.
