Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 26-year-old Abdi Kadir of Buffalo was sentenced this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes to 15 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision. He was sentenced today as a second violent felony offender.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the six designated 2024 "Free Fishing Days" in New York will take place on: Feb. 17-18 (Presidents' Day weekend), June 29-30, Sept. 28 (National Hunting and Fishing Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). During these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York's waters.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m., with the first round starting at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the sales will go toward programming and services for those living with a mental health diagnosis in Niagara County.
