Obituary: Donald Sadlocka

Donald Andrew Sadlocka was born Dec. 8, 1948, in North Tonawanda. He died peacefully in Watertown after a brief illness on Oct. 29, 2023, in the presence of family members. He was the son of the late Casimer Sadlocka and Mathilda (nee Niemiec) Sadlocka. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth (Bernard) Grooms, and by his brother, Paul Sadlocka.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the completion of a 65-unit affordable housing development in east Buffalo. Her team said, "The long-vacant School 75 has been repurposed to offer 47 apartments, including 33 with supportive services for veterans and military service-disabled individuals, and will be home to the new corporate offices for the Western New York Veterans' Housing Coalition. As part of the project, an additional 12 buildings were constructed throughout the neighborhood and provide 18 affordable units."

The western shore of New York state from Buffalo to the Pennsylvania border is impacted by seiche (pronounced saysh) events. Seiches are the result of wind blowing a sizeable standing wave across Lake Erie and onto the shoreline, causing flooding, rapid and intense erosion, deposition of sand and debris, potential hazardous conditions, such as rip currents, and risk to life.
