It's been a good two years for the Niagara-Wheatfield girls tennis team. In 2017, the team won its first Niagara Frontier League title since 2012. In 2018, the girls are back on top of the league - clinching their fourth NFL title in program history. In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Family & Children's Service of Niagara coordinated the fifth annual Domestic Violence Ribbon Walk on Tuesday. Staff, local elected leaders and community members gathered on Third Street to take a collective stand against domestic violence. As they walked, they tied purple ribbons on the trees between Main and Niagara streets.

The New York Power Authority board of trustees approved power contract extensions that combine to support more than 88,000 jobs throughout the state. The contract extensions also further align the Power Authority's economic development programs with Gov. Andrew Cuomo's state energy plan, which calls for 50 percent of New York's electricity is to be generated by renewable energy sources by 2030.
