Last Friday, officials from Niagara County and the Town of Wheatfield were on hand at the Wheatfield Senior Center to hand out over 100 Thanksgiving dinners to local seniors. The event was part of Niagara County Legislator Jesse Gooch's "Meals With Heart From Six Feet Apart" program that he created in March to offer affordable meals to seniors in the community amid the ongoing pandemic.

It was a long time in coming, but Step-In-Time Studio of Dance is finally holding its June dance recital this week. The event, delayed by the coronavirus outbreak, is taking place in a series of daily mini-performances, with about 145 students divided into separate, small shows. With masks, temperature checks and social distancing, the pandemic brought a new date and a new look to the event. And it brought tears of joy to the eyes of a number of parents.

Well, one option is found at two unique businesses located in a quiet neighborhood along the Robinson Street strip in North Tonawanda. One is known as the Old Chapel Antique and Artisan Market, and found in a neat, old-time former church complex at 172 Robinson St. The other being its cousin - The Old Greenhouse Antiques and Décor - housed in long-time flower shop at 700 E. Robinson St.

The Niagara University ESports team consists of six different teams: Four teams consisting of FIFA, Super Smash Bros, Ultimate Rocket League and Overwatch all compete at the Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF) and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC); the other two teams also play competitively with League of Legends and Valorant.

Athletics around the world came to a halt: Little League was shut down before it started; high school and collegiate sports were cut off at winter championships; spring sports were canceled all together; and professional seasons were cut short, postponed or amended to fit in with regulations made by federal and state governments.

The next time you're watching or attending a show with live performers try to imagine yourself in the performers' shoes- or in colorguard's case, the feet of the performers. You'd probably be overcome with insane amounts of anxiety. Stage fright even. More often than not the performers feel some sort of the same thing. They just find different ways to handle it.

Is it a secret college is hard? No. Add some Zoom classes and hybrid classes to the mix, the inability to see friends and go out to let loose on the weekends after a tough week full of assignments, papers and exams, not being able to play sports with teammates, not being able to meet new people as a freshman because they are couped up in their dorms - that makes college even harder.

On Nov. 10, the North Tonawanda Common Council voted 3-2 to adopt its revised 2021 budget, which includes a 3.75% property tax increase (equating to roughly $50 per $100,000 assessment). The figure is lower than the 6.52% increase called for in Mayor Arthur G. Pappas' initially proposed budget, which was heavily criticized by residents and some council members alike.

In 42 minutes, fans were given a promising new lead on the true identity of Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader), one of the world's most-wanted criminals - and the FBI's best-kept secret weapon in finding fugitives. Agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) finally broke away from "Red" - a man she once believed to be her father - and aligned with her mother, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins) ... who is also a world-class criminal. She abandoned her task force family - but finally made a romantic move on partner Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff).

Friday night, Lewiston-Porter junior Roddy Gayle had a big decision to make, but it was one he utmost felt incredibly comfortable with.
In front of a few family, friends, media and Lew-Port administration and coaches, Gayle made his commitment to the Ohio State University during a ceremony in the Lancers gymnasium.

When the first South Grand Island Bridge was constructed in 1935, connecting Tonawanda with Niagara Falls, the New York State Thruway Highway 190 did not exist. Travelers heading north used Grand Island Boulevard as its primary thoroughfare, according to Supervisor John C. Whitney. That is why the former bustling Niagara Falls Visitor Center was built at the corner of Grand Island Boulevard and Staley Road - and why there are so many motels along the boulevard.
