Every year the Niagara County Peach Queen, sponsored by the Lewiston Kiwanis Club, chooses an organization that has a very special meaning to her and organizes a fundraiser where all of the proceeds go to that organization.

Quasar Energy Group announced Monday it has filed an appeal of State Supreme court Justice Frank Caruso's ruling on the Town of Wheatfield's biosolids law. Last month, Caruso ruled the law, which bans the spread of human waste byproducts on town land, is legal.

At the Village of Youngstown organizational meeting Thursday evening, Tim Lockhart and Stephen Zastrow were sworn into office. Lockhart is taking on another term as deputy mayor. Zastrow, meanwhile, replaces Steven Suitor, whose second term ended after he held the trustee position for eight years.

Roughly 350 seniors from across Niagara County took part in the 16th annual Niagara County Senior Walk in the Park Thursday at Veterans Memorial Community Park in the Town of Niagara. The free event offered seniors, 55 and up, a choice of four walking courses, each of them a different distance.
