Artpark & Company's "Tuesdays in the Park" presented by M&T Bank concert series continues to take shape. On Tuesday, the venue added Boy George and Culture Club, The B-52s and Thompson Twins' Tom Bailey to the close the lineup. The acts will perform starting at 6 p.m. Aug. 28.

Artpark & Company announced Monday a return date for Brit Floyd. The premier Pink Floyd tribute band will bring its "Eclipse World Tour 2018" to Lewiston - promising "45 years of The Dark Side of the Moon' " - on July 31. The 7 p.m. "Tuesday in the Park" concert series event will take place in the Outdoor Amphitheater.

Western New York's renowned Summer of '69 All-Star Band will once again present an event to benefit the Home Assistance Referral Team. A charity concert is slated for 6-10 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Lewiston Event Center, 845 Cayuga St. The event has free admission. Guests can participate in basket and 50/50 raffles.

On Thursday, Destination Niagara USA Director of Communications Andrea Czopp brought Community Missions of the Niagara Frontier three containers filled with hotel-quality bath items. The toiletries, including soaps, body washes and lotions, shampoos and conditioners, were collected by the destination marketing organization's traveling staffers.

The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier advisory board was inspired to develop its Institute for Public Leadership Candidate and Campaign Skills Workshop after witnessing the successful impact of the women's march in Washington, D.C., last year, and seeing the lack of female representation in office. The event visits Niagara University next weekend.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday announced cashless tolling will go live at the Grand Island toll barriers on Thursday, March 29 (weather-dependent). As of the morning commute on Friday, March 30, the toll plazas at the north and south Grand Island bridges will no longer accept cash payment.

The Aquarium of Niagara officially opened its new, $3.5 million exhibit, Penguin Coast, on Wednesday. The new space is five times larger than the previous habitat and enables the venue to apply for Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons hockey team has been through it all this season.
Coming off the previous season where they didn't make the sectional final; a middle of the season where they weren't playing their best hockey; a historic end of the season run; and the tragic loss of a classmate mixed into four months was just tidbits of what the Falcons went through.
After the tragedy in the community, the team uplifted many Wheatfield spirits with a run to the New York state large schools championship. Unfortunately, good things come to an end, and on Sunday evening, the Falcons were defeated by the No. 1 team in New York state, the Victor Blue Devils, 5-1.

Wednesday night in Town of Lewiston Justice Court, the Hon. Thomas Sheeran told principal Frontier House owners Richard and Judy Hastings he wants to see "something that we can point to that gets us closer to the goal line" of exterior renovations and/or a sale. The judge gave the Hastings family 30 days in which to act.

On Wednesday, students, faculty, friends and family received tragic news that Michael Ziegler; a student at Niagara-Wheatfield High School and a member of the Falcons football, wrestling and lacrosse teams, tragically passed away.

The Niagara Falls High School basketball program has a rich history of winning and is always held to high expectations. In the 2017-18 season, they won the Niagara Frontier League and their 20th Section VI title dating back to the old Niagara Falls High School on Pine Avenue, but this year seniors Quran Dubois, Syquan Ralands, Tazaun Rose and Marquise Miller want more than just another sectional title: they want the states.

In the movie, she stars as Lucy, a promising historian who unexpectedly inherits half of a mansion left to her upon the death of an aunt. Tuesday night a couple thousand people gathered at the Niagara-Wheatfield gym for a basketball game between the Niagara-Wheatfield faculty and the Buffalo Sabres Alumni. The evening was more than a fun pickup game, though, as proceeds from the game benefitted the Bald for Bucks association in honor of the late James Campbell, who passed away in August due to cancer.

An event that started in the 1970s was reimagined Saturday as the women of St. Peter R.C. School presented a gala benefit. Once held in the student cafeteria, this year's rendition took place at the new wing of the Niagara Falls Country Club. There, parents, teachers, faculty and members of Rosary Altar Guild Society joined forces to stage a ladies luncheon, mother-daughter fashion show and grand gift and basket raffle, all to raise funds for the Lewiston elementary school.

On Monday when the Niagara-Wheatfield Hockey team defeated Williamsville North for the Section VI large schools crown, Nick Peters played a rare game where he didn't record a point. Saturday night in the state quarterfinals, Peters was in on every scoring play.
The Falcons defeated the Syracuse Cougars, 3-1, to move on to the state semifinals

There are few schools who have a storied basketball program like the Niagara Falls Wolverines. On Saturday afternoon, the Wolverines added to that history, defeating the Williamsville North Spartans, 61-42, to win their third consecutive Section VI Class AA title.
