On Wednesday night, the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons displayed superb defense versus Clarence throughout the course of the game. They needed the effort for all 45 minutes of play, and they got it. The Falcons defeated Clarence 2-1 in Section VI Division 1 action.

Playing two games in as many nights demands a lot out of basketball players from high school to pros. On Tuesday night, the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons played their second of three games in a row. Fatigue was shown early, but as the game went along, the Falcons seemed to gain energy and pull through for their second straight win. The Falcons defeated the Starpoint Spartans on the road, 48-41, behind a huge comeback run in the third quarter.

Community Missions' week of giving begins

As part of the global Giving Tuesday initiative, local establishments have teamed with the agency to provide needed funds for the less fortunate. Rainforest Café will donate 10 percent of its sales to Community Missions on Tuesday, Nov. 28, while TGI Friday's will do the same on Wednesday, Nov. 29. On Friday, Dec. 1, Power City Eatery will donate in the same fashion, as will Third Street Retreat on Saturday, Dec. 2. Lewiston's Village Bake Shoppe will also donate $1 for each "Cake in a Cup" sold throughout the week.

Lewiston Town Board OKs amended Rubino concept PUD

Following significant discussion, the Lewiston Town Board, by a 4-1 vote, gave its endorsement Monday of a local law to approve the amended Rubino brothers' concept PUD - with conditions - for a proposed development off Upper Mountain Road near Bronson Drive. The planned unit development covers 107 units, including 91 patio homes and four-unit townhouse buildings on property currently owned by Donald Smith.
