The Lewiston Town Board held a Nov. 7 public hearing on its 2020 $18,463,867 preliminary budget. The numbers represent a $336,238 (1.85%) increase over the 2019 budget. However, the plan also shows a projected 0.47% tax decrease.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7487 held a Veterans Day observance at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, in honor of those who served this country in the armed forces. The event took place at the new "Circle of Honor" memorial at Academy Park in Lewiston.

Niagara County Community College's search for a president is finished, according to board of trustees Chairman Bill Ross. The trustees, having interviewed four finalists for the position and chosen the applicant most suited, are sworn to confidentiality on the subject, but have sent their chosen applicant to the SUNY Board of Trustees and SUNY chancellor for approval.

The Town of Niagara Town Board parted ways Thursday night after three-hours of discussing the budget. Councilmen Samuel Gatto, Marc Carpenter, and Richard Sirianni ran plans to trim budget lines to free up funds for other endeavors by Deputy Supervisor Charles Teixeira via phone. The resulting argument ended the meeting.

Amid public outcry against the influx of new solar farms in the town, the Lewiston Town Board introduced a moratorium that would temporarily halt new proposals for industrial-scale solar facilities in the area for six months. The moratorium is set to be voted on following a newly scheduled public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.

The Vietnam era helicopter and its compatriot, the massive tank in front of the Town of Wheatfield Highway Department building, will be back together again at Town Hall on Church Street. It's just a question of when.
