Town Board passes bond resolution for road reconstruction

The Grand Island Town Board Monday night passed a $750,000 bond resolution to fund reconstruction and improvements to various town roads. The resolution, sponsored by Michael Madigan and seconded by Tom Digati, passed unanimously. Councilmember Peter Marston was an excused absence.

The soaking rainfall, the blustery winds, and even a tornado warning on July 17 changed Relay For Life, but the event went on as scheduled. The changes included the cancellation of the car show and the fire performance. Survivors were still offered free meals, the basket raffle attracted a crowd, the wheel of chance still spun, and people purchased tickets for the 50-50 raffle.

Relay For Life is back after a one-year hiatus as a two-day event. From 3-7 p.m. Saturday, a hybrid Relay event will be held at the Fuccillo Toyota dealership parking lot. The traditional luminaria ceremony will be offered at 9:15 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Park. In addition to the luminaria ceremony, a newly installed memorial garden at Veterans Park will be dedicated to the late Mary Dunbar-Daluisio, who, for many years, served as co-chair of Relay For Life.
