Residents in the Village of Lewiston re-elected Mayor Terry Collesano Tuesday. He will begin his second term in July.
Collesano, a Republican, defeated independent candidates Jamie Symmonds and Jacqueline Lampman by a 255-232-55 vote.

It will be a pet lover's dream come true July 2 when Grandpaws Pet Emporium moves into its new location at 402 Center St., in the Village of Lewiston. Owner Andrew Bell is renting the entire Fourth and Center streets property in order to expand his popular business, add more food, treat and toy lines, open a pet-friendly café, and adopt out cats to loving homes.

Cheryl Martin, one of three co-chairs on the Lewiston/Niagara Relay For Life committee, has been an involved member of this American Cancer Society event for 14 years.
Cancer impacts the lives of some of the people closest to our hearts, and that is part of the reason for Martin's, as well as many other participants', involvement.

Local leaders were pleasantly surprised the first "Tuesdays in the Park" concert at Artpark didn't run into any thruway construction-related traffic problems this week. Just one month ago, they had expressed serious concern motorists would experience long delays heading into and out of the Village of Lewiston on event nights as a result of I-190 lane restrictions in front of the New York Power Authority.

By now, Artpark fans know the venue has an all-star lineup booked this year. All summer long, patrons can listen to the likes of Ringo Starr, Aretha Franklin, Heart, Sarah McLachlan and Lorde.
The most popular act might be the opening one. Recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Daryl Hall & John Oates headline tonight's "Tuesday in the Park" concert series.

Big Guys Pizzeria and More opened Monday at 105 Portage Road, in the Village of Lewiston.
The restaurant gets its name from its signature "Big Guy," a 28-inch, made-to-order pizza pie.

All four Village of Lewiston trustees are supporting Mayor Terry Collesano's bid for re-election in the June 17 election.
The election runs from noon until 9 p.m. June 17 at the Red Brick Municipal Building, 145 N. Fourth St. In addition to the mayoral race, three of the trustees - Sutherland, Eydt and Gibson - are running unopposed.

"We did sort of violate one of Tom's rules, which was putting things into the pancakes," owner and chef Mike Loraine said. "That's a new addition. ... I think the chocolate chips are great."

Lewiston business owners fear their prime season could be in jeopardy this year.
As spring turns to summer and warm weather takes hold, Lewiston turns on its tourist magnet, with weekly concerts, monthly festivals and outdoor events. This year, however, the thruway to and from the village is under construction, which will delay visitors from coming and going - and could persuade them not to make a trip in the first place.

Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. has announced a diverse lineup on Buffalo's waterfront. Thirty concerts will rock the park, including 10 free Thursday concerts and four ticketed concerts.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced the conviction Monday of Steven C. Richards and his immediate retirement as Town of Niagara supervisor. Richards, 61, of Lawson Drive in Niagara, pleaded guilty to official misconduct, a class A misdemeanor, before the Hon. Christopher J. Burns in Niagara County Court. Sentencing is scheduled for July 14.
"Steven Richards has admitted that he misused his position and used town resources to benefit himself personally, abusing both his office and the trust placed in him by the public," Schneiderman said. "He has vacated his office and submitted his retirement papers last week. With Richards' retirement and guilty plea, we have ensured that hardworking Niagara families will no longer have to pay for their town supervisor's personal use of town property and resources."

The City of Niagara Falls will soon be home to a $6 million sports and educational facility, which will offer a number of programs and services for members of the community. Once built, The Niagara Community Center (run as a nonprofit organization) will be located next to Niagara Catholic Junior-Senior High School at 520 66th St.

"24" is about to join a very small, very elite club.
The show and its characters are returning to television four years after the series ended thanks to a 12-part event series, "24: Live Another Day." In doing so, the "24" franchise joins a small list of TV shows that returned with new stories after being canceled.
