Village of Lewiston taxes going up 12 cents, but it could be worse

The Village of Lewiston is raising the tax rate from $7.26 per $1,000 of assessed valuation to $7.38 for the next fiscal year. The 1.68 percent bump, a 12-cent increase, means a land owner with a property valued at $100,000, for example, will see a tax increase of $12 for fiscal year 2015-16.
UPDATE: Police release names of Errick Road victims, deputy

On Saturday, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office identified the victims of Friday's shooting as Duane A. Bores, age 58, and Cynthia A. Bores, age 55, both of 6871 Errick Road.

Errick Road shooting update

Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour offered a small update late Friday on the Errick Road gunfight that took place earlier in the day. At the time, investigators were still casing the outside of the house where the incident occurred, 6871 Errick Road.
