As discussions wound up at Town Hall this week on Lewiston's $16.820 million 2017 tentative spending plan, town officials reported steps are now being taken to resurrect the Lewiston Family Ice Rink for the upcoming Lewiston Christmas Walk and holiday season.

The 1980s took center spotlight Saturday, as Billy Ocean performed inside the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino's Bear's Den. His songs, made popular in part by films "Jewel of the Nile" and "License to Drive," brought back happy memories for the 400 or so in attendance, while his voice sounded as if it was vacu-sealed in the '80s and, shhhhhpppp, opened fresh on stage.

A small change on paper made a big difference Monday, as the Village of Lewiston Historic Preservation Commission approved a modified request by Hastings Lewiston Inc. to subdivide the property at 460 Center St. Commissioners voted 4-0 to grant a certificate of appropriateness, and to move the concept along to the Planning Board.
