Construction-related lane closures for Labor Day weekend

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York state highways will be suspended from 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, to ease travel throughout Labor Day weekend.

We at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are proposing to list the salamander mussel (Simpsonaias ambigua) as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, and are seeking public comment. The salamander mussel is a species of freshwater mussel currently found in scattered populations across 14 states from New York southwest to Arkansas. We are also proposing to designate critical habitat for the salamander mussel.
