Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz, Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein and Commissioner of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Daniel Neaverth Jr. announced three individuals in Erie County tested positive for COVID-19, a disease caused by a novel coronavirus. The cases were confirmed through testing at the Erie County Public Health Lab late Saturday afternoon and are the first confirmed cases in Erie County.
Aquarium of Niagara to close for two weeks in response to COVID-19

The Aquarium of Niagara will close to the public at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, and remain closed through 9 a.m. March 28, in response to COVID-19. All scheduled events and programs within that timeframe are cancelled.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced he issued an executive order to help relieve the economic impact of COVID-19 on workers and assure school aid for schools that have been directed to close. As part of the governor's executive order, the state will waive the seven-day waiting period for workers to claim unemployment insurance for those that have been put out of work by COVID-19.
