AG James calls on mortgage servicers to provide substantial COVID-19 relief for homeowners

New York Attorney General Letitia James sent letters to 35 of New York's major mortgage servicers, calling on them to provide immediate and long-term relief to all New York homeowners struggling to pay mortgages amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The letters emphasize the responsibility of mortgage servicers to do more to ensure that COVID-19 does not cause unnecessary foreclosures or increase homelessness in New York.
New York Farm Bureau asks governor to further address farmworker needs during COVID-19 pandemic

Farmworker safety is important year-round, but the needs are paramount at this time as farms work to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. New York Farm Bureau has written a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo asking for additional state assistance to address the needs of the agricultural community. This would include inter-agency coordination related to testing, medical treatment and emergency housing for farmworkers, who are essential to agricultural production.

Niagara University's Border Community SERVICE program is leading an effort distribute face masks to seniors in the Niagara Region. The organization is focused on enhancing regional emergency preparedness. It solicited the participation of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members, and partnered with the volunteer group Operation Sewing Squad - Flattening the WNY Curve to make the masks, which it has distributed to local organizations that help the senior and other vulnerable populations in the county.

A week ago, The Billoni family and Colvin Cleaners announced they were bringing back their tailors and seamstresses who were laid off due to COVID-19 to make reusable, washable face masks for their customers and local nonprofit agencies.
