Hochul signs legislation to strengthen housing affordability for seniors & families

Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed a legislative package aimed at expanding tax relief for New York homeowners, particularly those 60 and over. The package, which was signed alongside members of the State Legislature and advocates, is designed to help support homeowners - from first-time homebuyers to senior citizens - as inflation, rising costs and other factors drive a nationwide affordability crisis.
Walk for Kidney Health supports patient programs and education

The Walk for Kidney Health will return to the Buffalo Outer Harbor on Sunday, Aug. 21. The annual event is an opportunity for the community to show support for people with kidney disease, share health information and honor organ donors. The walk is this year's main fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation of Western New York.

FeedMore WNY received a $50,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation to provide Western New York families in need the ability to choose from available foods or food boxes at partner food pantries. The funds provided an opportunity for 12 area food pantries in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties to reintroduce elements of choice at distributions, while still maintaining safety protocols due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Appeal 2022 'HOPE Day' is Wednesday, May 11

"HOPE Day," the annual 24-hour match challenge day of giving to benefit Appeal, is set for Wednesday, May 11, across Western New York. The first $75,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar, with gifts from donors who wish to remain anonymous, in the ongoing effort to reach 2022's $9.5 million goal in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo and the "Fund for the Faith." Appeal 2022 has currently raised $7,759,477, or 81% of its goal to date.
