New Jingle Falls USA programs offer activities for families, couples, singles

The countdown has begun for downtown Niagara Falls' Jingle Falls USA, a new collaborative holiday celebration taking place on Saturdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16. With multiple activities happening each day, Jingle Falls USA has planned something for guests of all ages.

The Historical Association of Lewiston's signature event, the Lewiston Tour of Homes, will kick off the holiday season Christmas Walk weekend, Dec. 2-3. Tickets are on sale now for the 13th annual event, themed "Christmastime with Fieldstone and Holly," which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
M&T Bank, Salvation Army kick off 'Gift of Warmth' drive

For more than three decades, M&T Bank has collected warm clothes at its branches across Western New York for local families in need as part of its "Gift of Warmth" campaign. Starting Nov. 20 and continuing until Dec. 29, Western New Yorkers can again drop off donations of new mittens, gloves, scarves, hats and coats at their nearest M&T Bank branch.

Serving the community: Lewiston fire crews stage quick response in village

Lewiston fire crews are credited with staging a quick response to a structure fire in the village late last month. The Sept. 29 call on the 400 block of Plain Street involved a garage structure fire, fully engulfed in a historical section on the village's west side - an area of well-maintained residences, the nearby Lewiston Historical Museum and numerous businesses around the block on the Center Street strip.

New York State Sen. Rob Ortt on Tuesday announced he secured a total of $1 million for infrastructure projects at three local hospitals. He said the funding will serve as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation. It secured by Ortt as part of the 2017-18 state budget, and supports projects at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda and Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.

'Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge' crowns a winner
