Catholic Health has again earned the Buffalo Niagara Region's highest cumulative overall score from The Leapfrog Group. In the spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade Report, they earned the only "A" safety grades in Erie and Niagara counties. In fact, Kenmore Mercy and Mount St. Mary's hospitals earned two of the 16 "A" grades given in all of New York.
Cuomo signs extension of COVID-19 Emergency Eviction & Foreclosure Prevention Act, Protect Our Small Businesses Act

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday signed an extension of the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 and the COVID-19 Emergency Protect Our Small Businesses Act. The legislation (S.6362-A/A.7175-A) extends protections prohibiting residential and commercial evictions, foreclosure proceedings, credit discrimination and negative credit reporting related to the COVID-19 pandemic until Aug. 31.
Historic Palace Theatre reopens in downtown Lockport

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced the reopening of the Historic Palace Theatre on Saturday, May 1, following a $3.5 million renovation that received $600,000 through Lockport's Downtown Revitalization Initiative award. Work on the nearly century-old structure included installing new seating, floors and a larger orchestra pit, as well as other interior improvements aimed at ensuring the future vibrancy of this community cornerstone.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced the design for a new, $46 million, state-of-the-art visitor center in Niagara Falls State Park. His team said, "The facility will be a gateway to adventure along the Niagara River corridor, greatly improving the visitor experience, complementing nature, increasing the length of visits within the park in all four seasons, and enhancing awareness of nearby recreational and cultural offerings."

Glynn and Nikola Tesla set sail to commence the Maid of the Mist's 2021 season - the company's 136th consecutive year of operation. SBA to increase lending limit for COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loans

The U.S. Small Business Administration is increasing the maximum amount small businesses and nonprofit organizations can borrow through its COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. Starting the week of April 6, the SBA is raising the loan limit for the COVID-19 EIDL program from six months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $150,000 to up to 24 months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $500,000.

Catholic Health has contracted to purchase 104 acres of land in Lockport, which will be the site of the new Lockport Memorial Campus of Mount St. Mary's Hospital. The multiple parcels, located off South Transit Road between Shimer and Ruhlmann roads, are currently under environmental and zoning review. Access to the hospital campus will be off Shimer Road near Transit.

Congressman Brian Higgins, D-NY-26, announced Erie and Niagara counties will receive more than $792 million in estimated federal disaster relief under the American Rescue Plan. The newly released data is provided by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, which is overseeing the state and local aid component of the bill.
Fogarty steering the course for Fuccillo Auto Group

A 38-year veteran of the industry, he has been a general manager with Toyota in Buffalo for 19 of the past 20 years. He now oversees all three of the Fuccillo dealerships on the Island - Toyota, Chevrolet and Hyundai.
