Town of Niagara Active Hose virtual learning picture day

The Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Department converted its banquet facility into a virtual learning center for the children of active and social members to attend classes virtually, yet still in a routine, group setting. The fire chief and families felt it imperative that widespread contact be limited so that, in case of infection within the schools, there would be no increased risk of endangering the community or jeopardizing the firemen's ability to respond to calls.

Earlier this week, New York state's movie theater industry breathed a collective sigh of relief as Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced theaters across the state (except for NYC) could finally begin to reopen. Per state safety guidelines, theaters can only maintain a 25% capacity; with no more than 50 people in front of each movie screen.

Donning hard hats and shovels, local officials joined administrators from the Niagara County SPCA for a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, as the organization gets set to begin construction on a $1.5 million state-of-the-art surgical suite. The end result will be a 2,000-square-foot facility complete with an X-ray room, which the SPCA said it's never had before.
Cuomo announces crackdown on work zone violations across state

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced the start of "Operation Hardhat," a statewide traffic enforcement detail targeting motorists who drive recklessly through work zones. The operation is a joint initiative between the New York State Police, Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority to crack down on work zone violations and highlight the importance of safe driving when encountering construction, maintenance and emergency operations along state highways.

The prerecorded video allowed graduates to submit a photo of themselves, future plans, and messages of appreciation to friends and family. De Dee's Dairy serving up smiles to go

WellNow Urgent Care now announces testing for COVID-19 in WNY; available in Niagara County

Beginning today, WellNow Urgent Care is offering two types of COVID-19 testing at its Western New York facilities: molecular polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and blood antibody serology testing. Individuals who have or recently had COVID-19 symptoms are eligible to receive the tests. Tests are available seven days a week with no appointment needed.
