On March 20, 1918, a group of Wheatfield residents met and formed the First Volunteer Chemical Fire Co. of Bergholz. 100 years later, first Chief Julius Stoelting and first President Henry Voelker's volunteer company is still running strong along Niagara Road.

Niagara-Wheatfield HS holds basketball game for Bald for Bucks

Tuesday night a couple thousand people gathered at the Niagara-Wheatfield gym for a basketball game between the Niagara-Wheatfield faculty and the Buffalo Sabres Alumni. The evening was more than a fun pickup game, though, as proceeds from the game benefitted the Bald for Bucks association in honor of the late James Campbell, who passed away in August due to cancer.
Town of Niagara Board presented plans for WNY First Response & Preparedness Center

On Tuesday evening, the Town of Niagara Town Board welcomed LaBella Associates and the Niagara County Center for Economic Development for a special Town Board meeting, in regard to the proposed Western New York First Response and Preparedness Center at the old U.S. Army Reserve Base off of Porter Road.

Voz Cycle City holds toy fund for WNY Heroes

For years, Terry Vosburgh, CEO of Voz Cycle City, has been giving back to the local community with toy funds that help children and families have an enjoyable holiday season. In 2017, Vosburgh, with the help of local organizations and businesses, raised over $10,000 that went to purchasing toys and bicycles for local families with veterans through WNY Heroes.

The Kiwanis Club of Niagara-Wheatfield's Student Leadership Program clubs have been busy with different projects serving and aiding their community during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. The Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis sponsors four individual SLP's within the Niagara-Wheatfield school district; K-Kids at West Street, Colonial Village and Errick Road elementary schools and a Builder's Club at Edward Town Middle School.

Electric Lights Parade ready to roll for 13th time

For 12 years, the Electric Lights Parade in the Town of Niagara has helped reel in the start of the holiday season. HS Sports: Niagara-Wheatfield girls volleyball captures gold

In 13 seasons as head coach of the Niagara-Wheatfield girls volleyball team, Brandi Cochran hoped that one day her team would raise a Niagara Frontier League title. The dream became reality on Friday night, as the Falcons' defeated Grand Island, 3-0, in the NFL Championship game.

The Niagara Power collegiate baseball team entertained kids, families and fans at Sal Maglie Stadium from 2007 to 2015. After two whole summers removed from the New York Collegiate Baseball League, the Power have come back home to Niagara Falls. On Monday afternoon, representatives from Niagara University and the Niagara Power came together to announce the return of the Power.

Wheatfield girls tennis unstoppable to start season

At the end of the 2016 tennis season, the Niagara-Wheatfield girls tennis team found themselves in second place, finishing 12-2 and one match behind Niagara Frontier League champion, Lockport. This season, the Falcons have used that finish as fuel to their fire. The Falcons have been nothing short of dominant in their first eight matches of the year, as they are 8-0 and 40-0 in sets.
