Shea's Performing Arts Center presented former President and CEO Patrick Fagan with the Michael Shea Lifetime Legacy Award at its annual gala. Additionally, Mayor Byron Brown presented Patrick with a proclamation declaring Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, as Patrick Fagan Day in the City of Buffalo.

The U.S. Coast Guard's latest 2021 Recreational Boating Statistics Report revealed boating safety improved with a 15.4% drop in the fatality rate per 100,000 registered vessels since 2020, while incidents decreased by 15.7% to 4,439; total fatalities decreased by 14.2% to 658; and total injuries decreased by 17.2% to 2,641.

The Niagara County Legislature voted Tuesday to allocate up to $100,000 for the construction of a new Purple Heart monument on the grounds of the Niagara County Courthouse in Lockport. The vote endorsed the recommendations of an ad hoc committee that was formed earlier this year to come up with a design and a location to honor Niagara County's Purple Heart recipients.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Niagara County announced its recent enrollment in the Niagara County "Thank A Vet" program. CCE Niagara will offer free admission to the Niagara County Fair on Sunday, Aug. 7, to any current member of the military, or veteran, as part of the "Thank A Vet" program. First responders will also be admitted to the fair for free that day.
