On Monday night, the Town of Wheatfield Town Board met for its second regular board meeting of the month. The meeting was rather light with Supervisor Don MacSwan and Town Attorney Matt Brooks not in attendance, but Councilman Larry Helwig sat in for MacSwan to take care of some town business.

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr. announced Tuesday that Michael Yount, 47, of Lancaster, who was convicted of making a materially false statement, was sentenced to serve two years probation by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. Wolford also ordered the defendant to perform 100 hours of community service "that directly contributes to the betterment of this community's environment."

Cattaraugus County chapter, an affiliate of The ReHabilitation Center, announced that the board of directors of both agencies have approved the merger of the two organizations.
