Town of Wheatfield Board approves route for river trail

After hearing from citizens last Wednesday on the five alternatives proposed for the Niagara River waterfront multiuse trail (see report on cover), the Town Board made its final decision Monday night at its regular meeting on which alternative would suit the town best.

Late last week, Five Star Urgent Care - one of upstate New York's fastest growing urgent care providers - opened its doors to Niagara County with the grand opening of its Niagara Falls facility. As of Thursday, the facility began accepting new walk-in patients for non-life-threatening ailments.

Collins applauds funding for Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station fitness center

Congressman Chris Collins applauded President Donald Trump's budget proposal, which includes funding for a state-of-the-art fitness facility at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Last year, Collins corresponded with the Air Force to request funding for this facility be expedited to be included in the fiscal year 2019 budget instead of the original proposal for FY21.

With great sadness, Sheriff James R. Voutour announced Saturday the sudden passing of Niagara County Sheriff's Office canine EJ, handled by his partner Deputy Richard Bull. On Jan. 19, Bull, his handler, discovered EJ unresponsive inside his kennel.

Measuring approximately 21,000 square feet, the new location at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls is set to open this summer. H&M officials said they have experienced a warm welcome from customers and fans in New York and are happy to continue to expand store and employee counts in the state.

On Tuesday night, North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur Pappas announced the next round of Hometown Heroes banners to be revealed in the city. The banners are now open to all veterans and not just active duty members. This year the American Legion Sikora Post 1322 recognized MM2 Stephen Sikora, U.S. Navy; Sgt. John Lukasik, U.S. Army Corps; and PFC Stanley Maziarz, U.S. Army.
