Relocation of Niagara County Veterans' Service Agency complete

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski on Tuesday announced the relocation of the offices of the Niagara County Veterans' Service Agency is now complete. The new office is now open at the Niagara County Clerk's Office in the Niagara County Courthouse, 175 Hawley St., Lockport.
'Economic gardening' program comes to Niagara County

In partnership with Invest Buffalo Niagara, Niagara County is offering this program to second-stage companies that are looking to accelerate growth.

The Niagara County Central Rotary Club will award three $500 scholarships to students in the Niagara Wheatfield, Starpoint and Wilson school districts. Eligible students must be entering college in the fall of 2022. Applications are due March 7. Interviews will be scheduled via zoom the evening of March 30.

Niagara County clerk reminds pistol permitholders to recertify

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski on Monday reminded pistol permitholders that, under the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act (SAFE) of Jan. 15, 2013, they must recertify every five years with the New York State Police. That means those who either received their permit or recertified in 2017 must now recertify by the date of issuance on their permit.

Fire on Hoover Road

On Thursday afternoon, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a telephone call reporting a house fire at 6030 Hoover Road in the Town of Wheatfield. When responding patrol units arrived on scene, all occupants had been evacuated, and the Sanborn Fire Co. was in the process of extinguishing the fire.

The Niagara County Department of Emergency Services and the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce are cohosting a free drive-thru mask giveaway for businesses on Thursday, Jan. 6, at the county's Public Safety Training Facility in Lockport.
