North Tonawanda and Bird, a leader in environmentally friendly electric transportation, are bringing shared e-scooters to North Tonawanda. This new transportation option can be activated through Bird's free mobile phone application and used to replace gas-powered car trips when going to the store, meeting up with friends, exploring the community and taking many other daily trips within city limits for riders age 18 and up.

Congressman Brian Higgins, along with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino, announced the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls have been awarded close to $300,000 in federal funding combined to be used toward public safety and crime prevention measures. The grants are provided through the U.S. Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.

Niagara County Personnel Officer Malcolm Needler announced the application deadlines for four upcoming civil service exams - caseworker, clerical II, correction officer and social worker - are fast approaching, and encouraged those who are interested to sign up now for the exams. The application deadline for all four exams is Oct. 28. The respective tests will be given Dec. 10.
