Niagara Jet City Cruises announced the restart of its white-water touring experiences for the summer season. Beginning Friday, May 6, guests can experience rides along the Niagara River with class-5, Whirlpool and Devil's Hole rapids in the Niagara River Gorge, with 360-degree spins along the way aboard climate-controlled boats.

The Bruce Sutherland Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 16, at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club in Youngstown. Funds raised will go to the Historical Association and the Lewiston Museum, and the VFW Post 7487 scholarship fund - two local causes that Sutherland had volunteered and worked for in the past. Bruce was a respected community leader who unexpectedly passed away in December.

The Levesque Institute for Civic Engagement's IMPACT office concluded its "Spring into Service" week with a community garden cleanup at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center in Niagara Falls on Saturday. On Wednesday afternoon, Niagara County Dispatch received a call from a boater in the Lower Niagara River stating there was a body floating in the water. U.S. Coast Guard retrieved the person from the water, where the deceased was then brought to the Coast Guard Station in Fort Niagara State Park.
