Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday announced the start of Severe Weather Awareness Week in New York state, and is encouraging New Yorkers to take steps to prepare themselves and their households for severe weather.

NYSEG and RG&E announce assistance available to help customers with unpaid bills

New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) want to help customers find relief for unpaid bills for their electricity and/or gas service. The winter restrictions on service disconnections have ended, meaning customers with a financial need for help with unpaid bills should act now to keep their service on.
Council for Older Adults in Niagara County spring conference

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced a jury has found 46-year-old Otis L. Johnson Jr. of Buffalo guilty of one count of manslaughter in the first degree (class "B" violent felony). Jurors rendered their decision late yesterday afternoon after less than two hours of deliberation following a five-day trial, convicting the defendant of the only count in the indictment against him.
