Child Advocacy Center, P3 Center receive pandemic emergency assistance funding

Women served by the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara, a service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, along with clients of Memorial's P3 Center for Teens, Moms and Kids, have received awards totaling $122,133.11 from the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund (PEAF).
Morinello to sponsor car seat safety check at Niagara SPCA

Assemblyman Angelo Morinello is sponsoring a free car seat safety check at the Niagara SPCA from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 23. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be on site inspecting car seats to help ensure child safety. There will be a variety of food, including hot dogs, baked goods and ice cream available for sale. The Niagara County SPCA also will have meet-and-greet pet adoptions.
Niagara County Youth Bureau summer food service program

This program ensures all children continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation. Meals are comparable to the national school breakfast and national school lunch programs throughout the school year.

Memorial announces outpatient nutrition program

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will now offer a nutrition program in the Summit Orthopaedic Center, located in suite 700 of the Summit Healthplex (6934 Williams Road, Niagara Falls). Starting June 8, outpatient registered dietitian Diana Korzhukova, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., will see patients at the center for nutrition counseling every Wednesday.

New York to host 2025 world canals conference

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday announced New York state was selected by Inland Waterways International as the host of the 2025 World Canals Conference, an event that brings together hundreds of canal and inland waterway enthusiasts, professionals and scholars from around the world to learn about a variety of topics related to canals. The 2025 conference will be held in Buffalo as the state commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal's opening there in 1825.
$15 million in funding to support development of new integrated supported housing for people with developmental disabilities

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday announced the release of an Integrated supportive housing application available to qualifying service providers and housing developers. The 2022 funding opportunity, to be administered by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, will award $15 million in capital funding to expand access to affordable, accessible, non-certified supportive housing options for people with developmental disabilities.

NYPA hydropower allocation to support creation of 200 jobs at General Motors Plant in Lockport

The New York Power Authority board of trustees approved a low-cost hydropower award to General Motors Components Holdings, a subsidiary of General Motors, that will support nearly 1,450 jobs - 200 newly created - at its plant in Lockport. The Niagara hydropower will support a $137 million investment by the firm that will enable the production of critical components for electric motors at its Western New York location.
