The Niagara County Department of Health will offer free COVID-19 vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older at upcoming clinics. Children ages 6 months to 4 years old may receive the Pfizer vaccine, while children ages 6 months to 5 years old can receive the Moderna vaccine.

The Western New York Shelby and Mustang Club will host the Nickel City Mustang Roundup July 29-31 at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara Hotel at 1340 Millersport Highway in Amherst. More than 400 cars are expected in the show, with some coming from as far away as California. Organizers said spectator turnout of 2,500 is expected during the course of the event.

The new disc golf course that opened at the beginning of summer in Royalton Ravine Park appears to be a huge hit with Niagara County residents, according to Niagara County Legislator Mike Hill. This is the second disc course opened by Niagara County Parks, with the original located in Burmaster Park at Bond Lake.

The Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative (CGLI), an initiative that aims to expand access to philanthropy in communities of color, has announced a grant opportunity under its Emerging Philanthropists of Color (EPC) initiative. EPC members will award two $2,500 grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are located in Buffalo, Lackawanna or Niagara Falls and serving people of color.

National Alliance on Mental Illness family support groups are for adult family members and caregivers (over age 18) of a loved one living with mental illness. They are described as a safe, confidential place to receive support, as well as referrals to needed resources. Groups are led by trained NAMI member volunteers with family experience of a loved one living with mental illness.

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez recently announced work will continue in Western New York to upgrade traffic signals with yellow arrow phases to more safely accommodate motorists making left turns at intersections. Traffic signals featuring a flashing yellow arrow phase will be installed at more locations as intersection improvements are made.

The trainings, which will be held this Saturday at Delavan-Grider Community Center, are focused on empowering individuals to help in bleeding emergencies.

On Friday, New York State Sen. Sean Ryan was joined by local elected officials and community leaders to announce plans for a pocket park at a former industrial site on Niagara Street. The project will be funded by a $250,000 New York state grant secured by Ryan. Buffalo Common Council member David Rivera's office secured an additional $40,000 for project planning costs.
