Niagara County launches 'Façade Program 2.0'

Following the success of its first façade program that was created in 2022, the Niagara County Legislature on Friday announced "Façade Program 2.0," offering matching grants up to $50,000 for qualified business to make exterior capital improvements to their properties. The program is being run by the county's Center for Economic Development.

Niagara County on Wednesday announced the launch of the Connect Niagara bus service, which replaces the former Niagara Rural Transportation service. Connect Niagara offers new routes and better connectivity, including free transfers to connecting routes and NFTA Metro buses. The new routes go into effect Monday, March 4.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the six designated 2024 "Free Fishing Days" in New York will take place on: Feb. 17-18 (Presidents' Day weekend), June 29-30, Sept. 28 (National Hunting and Fishing Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). During these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York's waters.

Unused gift card balances can be turned over to the comptroller's office of unclaimed funds (OUF) after five years of inactivity. In 2023, the office recovered over $27 million from gift cards.
