Recycler gifts $9,000 to Camp Good Days

On Friday, electronics recycler Sunnking presented a $9,875.01 check to Camp Good Days and Special Times, a nonprofit organization helping children and families with cancer. The funds were raised as a part of Sunnking's 13th annual "e-Scrap for Camp" fundraiser. The company saw 323 area businesses participate in the electronics recycling donation drive between Buffalo and Rochester.

Life Without Limbs and Kingdom Bound Ministries have announced three nights of inspiration and hope when motivational speaker Nick Vujicic brings his "Rise Victorious" events to Buffalo this September. The free events will come to Eastern Hills Church in Williamsville on Thursday, Sept. 28; Elim Christian Festival in Buffalo on Sept. 29; and Life Church Buffalo in West Seneca on Sept. 30. All three events are open to the public.

The American Red Cross has seen a shortfall of about 25,000 blood donations in the first two months of the summer, which makes it hard to keep hospital shelves stocked with lifesaving blood products. Max and Brook were planning to get rid of years' worth of clutter from their Niagara Falls home, including furniture, clothing and even a set of snow tires. They got to planning and decided to include their neighbors. They made a flyer and hand-delivered them to people they knew around the block. The response was positive, and they decided to post a yard sign on a few lawns to see if there was extended interest.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced applications are open to New York organizations for the FreshConnect CSA for SNAP program. This program will help to give Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants in New York increased access to weekly shares of fresh, locally grown produce through community-supported agriculture (CSA) initiatives by defraying up to half the cost, while also lending additional support to New York's farmers and producers.
