David Evans Jr. with the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, Gold Star Lapel Pin and six additional military service medals earned while he served in the Iraq War.

The Aquarium of Niagara has selected Turner Construction Co. as the project manager for its first expansion in the organization's 58-year history. The $5 million Great Lakes 360 project, which was formally announced in December, will be a living museum featuring the notable wildlife of the Niagara River and larger Great Lakes ecosystem.

This year will mark the return of the Memorial Day parade, thanks to the Memorial Day Remembrance Committee. Niagara University and Medaille University have entered a "teach out" agreement to provide students from Medaille an opportunity to continue their academic studies at NU. Medaille, which announced it is closing as of Aug. 31, sent a letter to all of its students on behalf of Niagara University on Monday afternoon.

Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti announced Niagara County law enforcement agencies will participate in a special effort to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving. Law enforcement officers across New York state will take to the roads in a combined effort to stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives. The statewide STOP-DWI high-visibility engagement campaign efforts start Thursday, April 20, and will end Friday, April 21.
