Attorney general provides tips to borrowers as federal student loan payments resume

New York Attorney General Letitia James provided tips to New York borrowers on how to manage their federal student loans as payments resume. Federal student loan interest accrual resumed in September and payments will be due this month. James also urged New Yorkers to be cautious of scammers posing as student loan servicers who can take advantage of borrowers.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the start of construction for 950 Broadway LLC in east Buffalo. The $13.5 million project, by Cedarland Development LLC, will renovate and convert a 50,000-square-foot, vacant and underutilized building in east Buffalo into a mixed-use development, featuring 28 affordable housing units, a free Head Start child education program, and a proposed indoor urban farm.

Earlier this month, the New York state-commissioned Tourism Economics research study for 2022 was released, detailing the economic impact of tourism across the state. The study revealed that the total traveler spend in Niagara County in 2022 reached $969 million, which is an increase of 16.5% relative to 2021.
