M&T Bank employees loaded thousands of winter clothing items - which were packed into more than 100 boxes - into a Salvation Army box truck Friday at One M&T Plaza. The cold-weather gear was gathered at M&T branches during the annual "Gift of Warmth" drive, which collects warm clothing for families served by The Salvation Army of Buffalo.

Catholic Charities on Tuesday announced the launch of the 2019 Appeal. The goal for the 2019 fundraiser once again is $11 million, of which $1.4 million has already been raised. The theme for the Appeal 2019 is "Help your neighbor find HOPE."

Special Olympics New York President and CEO Stacey Hengsterman announced Rochester will host the New York State Winter Games Feb. 22-23. The event will bring approximately 1,000 athletes and coaches to the area to compete in six winter sports: alpine and cross-country skiing, figure skating, floor hockey, snowboarding and snowshoeing.

The African American Veterans Monument committee is one step closer to its fundraising goal thanks to a $200,000 joint grant from Delaware North and M&T Bank. Lou Jacobs (co-CEO of Delaware North), René Jones (chairman and CEO of M&T Bank) and several African American veterans, who now work at both companies, visited the monument site this morning for the donation.

Chris Jacobs joined Highway Superintendent Tom Jones to announce he has secured $300,000 in state funding to support new sidewalks in various locations throughout the Town of Tonawanda. The funding will enable the town to replace approximately 31,000 square feet of damaged or dangerous sidewalk.

The public protection dollars being delivered by Jacobs will support emergency medical services, specifically the paramedic unit, and the volunteer fire services.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Family & Children's Service of Niagara coordinated the fifth annual Domestic Violence Ribbon Walk on Tuesday. Staff, local elected leaders and community members gathered on Third Street to take a collective stand against domestic violence. As they walked, they tied purple ribbons on the trees between Main and Niagara streets.
