KeyBank, First Niagara Foundation proudly support, celebrate merger that will feed more in WNY

In recognition of the recent merger between The Food Bank of Western New York and Meals on Wheels for Western New York, KeyBank, in partnership with the First Niagara Foundation, is awarding a $25,000 proactive grant to applaud the nonprofit agencies for merging into a new entity called FeedMore WNY. The newly formed organization will share services and reduce expenses to increase food distribution over a larger geographical area and provide additionally enhanced programs to help even more people in the local community.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz on Thursday joined Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens Society President and CEO David Swarts to announce a county funding commitment of $2.5 million to support the Botanical Gardens' proposed expansion. The plan would add 36,000 square-feet of space for a butterfly conservatory, state‐of‐the‐art educational classrooms, new exhibits and grow houses, and event spaces.

DeGlopper Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9249 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, to present a check for $5,000 to the VFW, American Legion and the DeGlopper Memorial Park Expansion Committee. These funds are from the 2018 Erie County budget and will go towards the expansion expenses.

In basketball terms, when Niagara-Wheatfield and Grand Island stepped onto the hardwood inside N-WHS Tuesday night, the teams were battling to improve their record in the Niagara Frontier League and gain points for the sectional playoffs. As important as a win was, though, Tuesday night was a lot more than basketball. The Falcons and Vikings joined in the 2019 Hoops for Hope game, which was played in honor of a friend close to each school's heart - Julie Neville.
