The famous Summer of '69 All-Star Band will hit the Lewiston Stone House stage Saturday, Sept. 9, to raise funds for the Lewiston-Porter High School music scholarship program. The event begins at 6 p.m. at 755 Center St.

On Saturday, Nerds Gone Wild performed at Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School as part of "Big Red Fest" and Alumni Weekend. Dressed to impress, well, dressed like what's shown in the photos, anyway, the five-piece had the crowd on its feet, performing the '80s' biggest hits.

On Friday, more than 220 Buffalo Prep students participated in the first "Buffalo Prep Goes Green" event, which involved planting a commemorative tree at the site of the organization's future home on the University at Buffalo south campus. The facility's upgrades will allow Buffalo Prep to offer more services and welcome more students. It is set to open next year.

Coach Gary Raby Sr. goes by many names. No matter what you call him, though, you can't deny his heart of gold. He taught us so much in his life that sadly was cut too short last week while he was surrounded by his loving family at Hospice House. He will, however, continue to inspire us to believe in ourselves every day.
