Community Missions' 'Walk for Niagara' takes right 'step' toward helping others

Beyond what it already does for Niagara County, Community Missions of Niagara Frontier is literally taking a step toward serving its community - several steps, in fact. On Saturday, May 5, the organization will host its annual "Walk for Niagara" at Whirlpool State Park in Niagara Falls. The event helps to raise awareness and funds for the nonprofit organization's crisis and community service programs that provide clothing, food, shelter and other services to those in need.

Artpark & Company on Tuesday announced the addition of Gov't Mule with Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real (July 24), Blue Rodeo with Colin James (June 26), and The Spinners with Dave Schulz and C.O. Jones (Aug. 21). These acts complete the 2018 "Tuesdays in the Park" presented by M&T Bank lineup. Tickets for all three shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20.

Niagara Catholic High School marked 90 years on Monday with a Mass celebrated by the Most Rev. Richard J. Malone. The 66th Street School was formed out of a 1975 union between Duffy and St. Mary's/Madonna high schools.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons hockey team has been through it all this season. Coming off the previous season where they didn't make the sectional final; a middle of the season where they weren't playing their best hockey; a historic end of the season run; and the tragic loss of a classmate mixed into four months was just tidbits of what the Falcons went through. After the tragedy in the community, the team uplifted many Wheatfield spirits with a run to the New York state large schools championship. Unfortunately, good things come to an end, and on Sunday evening, the Falcons were defeated by the No. 1 team in New York state, the Victor Blue Devils, 5-1.
Frontier House: Court wants progress in next 30 days

Wednesday night in Town of Lewiston Justice Court, the Hon. Thomas Sheeran told principal Frontier House owners Richard and Judy Hastings he wants to see "something that we can point to that gets us closer to the goal line" of exterior renovations and/or a sale. The judge gave the Hastings family 30 days in which to act.
