It said Niagara Falls is known for its role in the Underground Railroad, but only a few precious artifacts have survived.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced a proposal to boost partial unemployment insurance benefits to New Yorkers who return to work part-time, as part of his 2021 State of the State. The plan would ensure unemployed New Yorkers who accept part-time work are not penalized by basing their partial unemployment benefits on the hours they actually work, rather than the number of days they work in a given week.

On Wednesday, New York State Supreme Court Justice the Hon. Henry J. Nowak, J.S.C., granted a preliminary injunction against a New York State Department of Health order placing portions of Erie County into a micro-cluster action initiative "orange zone." He allowed the almost 100 applicants permission to operate under "yellow zone" restrictions "pursuant to the DOH's Interim COVID-19 Guidance."

The Niagara County Legislature unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday night to allocate $101,458 from its contingency fund to create and fill part-time positions that will help administer the COVID-19 vaccine to the public when the vaccine doses become available. The county intends to vaccinate the public through point-of-dispensing sites (PODS).

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday updated New Yorkers on the state's COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts. By the end of this week, the state will have distributed approximately 911,000 first doses of the vaccine to providers for administration to eligible New Yorkers. Additionally, the governor announced that, to date, 3,762 providers have applied and been approved by the state to serve as vaccination sites. Currently, 636 locations are now activated and are able to begin vaccinating eligible New Yorkers.
