New York Attorney General Letitia James is taking action to crack down on rampant robocalls and protect consumers nationwide. She joined a coalition of 50 attorneys general to form a nationwide, bipartisan Anti-Robocall Litigation Taskforce to investigate and take legal action against telecommunications companies responsible for enabling a majority of foreign robocalls into the U.S. The taskforce will work to cut down on illegal robocalls made to consumers nationwide.
Hochul launches health care worker bonus program

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the launch of the health care and mental hygiene worker bonus program. Enacted in the fiscal year 2023 New York state budget, the program includes $1.3 billion allocated for the payment of recruitment and retention bonuses to certain health care and mental hygiene workers, a key initiative in the governor's aim to increase the state's health care workforce by 20% over the next five years.

Congressman Brian Higgins announced federal funding totaling $1,640,522 for Erie County Medical Center. Funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the award reimburses the medical center for personal protective equipment and supplies needed to treat and prevent the spread of coronavirus, as well as contract services used to support hospital functions during the pandemic.

The New York Power Authority board of trustees on Tuesday approved the award of a competitively bid contract, valued up to $37,984,000, to REEL COH Inc. of Boisbriand, Canada, to fabricate, deliver and install a new gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 680 tons for the Power Authority's Niagara Power Project in Lewiston.
