On Monday, the Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, the 14th Bishop of Buffalo, celebrated Mass at Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School. Malone reminded students and faculty that what makes NC different than public schools is its occupants' reliance on Jesus for guidance and strength.

The fourth annual CardioCraze Wellness Walk of Mount St. Mary's Hospital brought more than 150 walkers to the Village of Lewiston on Saturday. Designed to promote awareness of heart disease and good health, the walkers collected donations and raised more than $10,000 for cardiology initiatives at Mount St. Mary's Hospital.

Conesus Fest for Charity has announced the 20th anniversary of The World's Largest Disco, presented by Univera Healthcare, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Buffalo Convention Center. The event runs from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m., and features a mammoth, 64,000-square-foot dance floor, a concert-size sound/light show and surprise appearances from celebrities from the era.

Huge crowds descended on Lewiston Friday and Saturday for the Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival. Great music was ongoing from one end of Center Street to the other, the food and merchandise vendors were all busy, the jewelry tent was bright and cheerful with new lighting, and the street was filled with folks of all ages having a good time.

Members of the public have received their first look at the proposed Ellicott Development project eyed for Center Street. At Monday's Village of Lewiston Planning Board meeting, David M. Hall, planning and development coordinator for the Buffalo-based property management firm, informed attendees - including four members of the Village Board of Trustees - of his company's intention to build the village's first north-side plaza.
The development would begin on Center Street and lead down to Onondaga Street. Potential tenants include a fast food restaurant, a bank and a drugstore.
