Still, that didn't deter people from coming out to the annual "Taste of Jazz" fundraiser at the Brickyard Brewing Company on Center Street. The event is a benefit for the Northwest Jazz Festival.

Expanded: Village of Lewiston Board approves Hibbard's renovation, denies Art Council request

The second phase of expansion at Hibbard's Original Frozen Custard was approved Monday by the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees. The Hibbard family was granted a special use permit for a 24-foot-by-13-foot concrete pad and customer queuing area with overhanging canopy. This waiting spot will be located directly behind newly enlarged serving windows, which were previously approved.

An event that started in the 1970s was reimagined Saturday as the women of St. Peter R.C. School presented a gala benefit. Once held in the student cafeteria, this year's rendition took place at the new wing of the Niagara Falls Country Club. There, parents, teachers, faculty and members of Rosary Altar Guild Society joined forces to stage a ladies luncheon, mother-daughter fashion show and grand gift and basket raffle, all to raise funds for the Lewiston elementary school.
