2018-19 was indeed a dominant school year for Niagara-Wheatfield athletics. On Wednesday, at the Niagara Frontier League end of the year banquet, the program added to its impressive resume by winning the Niagara Frontier League "President's Cup" Supremacy Award.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons softball team has been in its fair share of offensive battles. On Tuesday, in the Section VI Class A1 semifinals, the Falcons got it done on the defensive side of the ball, as N-W defeated Hamburg, 1-0.

Senior Warren McDougald from Niagara-Wheatfield High School was awarded The Destroyer Award, Monday night at the annual Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Award dinner in Blasdell. The award is named after the late professional wrestler Dick Beyer, who passed away in March.

Runners and walkers alike; there is an event for you coming to the Town of Wheatfield in June.
Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and School, 6630 Luther St., will host the Bergholz 5K at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8. The event is seeking to promote health and wellness in the town, as well as facilities and operations at Holy Ghost.

Monday night, at the Town of Wheatfield Town Board meeting, Supervisor Don MacSwan issued a proclamation to Muscatello for all his years of service to the municipality.

After heavy rains suspended the contest in the first inning last Wednesday, the two teams continued the battle on Saturday, with N-W coming out as the victors, 9-0.
Despite a stellar offensive showing from the Falcons, it was all about Tommy Peltier on the mound. The senior hurled a no hitter while striking out 13 Lions.

The last time the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons softball team played Kenmore West, the team witness the Blue Devils celebrate on their own field after an impressive comeback victory.
Friday night, the Falcons were seeking revenge and got it, as N-W defeated Ken-West, 8-4.

Saturday afternoon, on the turf of Kenmore West High School, the two Niagara Frontier League squads dueled in a second extra inning affair, with the Falcons defeating the Lancers, 6-3, in eight innings.

This past week, Niagara County Community College hosted three public forums to introduce its presidential candidates. The forums also gave attendees the chance to ask the candidates questions they may have regarding the college. Following the remarks, attendees filled out a survey, which judged several categories of the presentation.

An overlooked position in baseball sometimes is that of the catcher. Every game, the catcher is seeing a new style of pitcher, calling pitches from start to finish, helping guide the defense, throw base stealers out - oh, and they get to hit, too.
As the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons baseball team comes into a 2019 season with high expectations, it is fortunate enough to have a backstop who has done all of that for quite some time: Ethan Guthrie.
