Over the course of its time in North Tonawanda, more than 3,000 carousels pranced out of the Allan Herschell Co. factory to homes around the world. However, not a single one stayed in the city that produced so many of the attractions -- until 1983, when the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum was born.

Health, noise, wildlife issues and more have been major concerns for Pendleton residents about a 22,000-horsepower gas compressor station that National Fuel is looking to build in the town, and close to the Wheatfield border. That has a lot of people from both communities furious and looking to fight to send National Fuel's idea far away.

Starting Aug. 5, hundreds of people will flock to the Niagara County Fair in Lockport to sample the food, visit the animals and exhibits, watch the shows and ride the rides -- and many county residents will be there, behind the scenes, caring for the exhibits, working concessions and otherwise helping to make sure things run smoothly.

State Sen. Rob Ortt today delivered a $15,000 check to the Carousel Society of the Niagara Frontier. Ortt secured the funding for the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda to help support the educational, cultural and recreational programming the roughly 15,000 visitors experience every year.

State Sen. Rob Ortt today announced $500,000 in state funding to establish an emergency management hub at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Ortt secured the funds in the 2015-16 state budget (Empire State Development Corp., Aid to Localities, S. 2003-C) to help base retention efforts for NFARS.
