On Saturday, thousands of people filled the sidewalks of Military Road for the 13th annual Electric Lights Parade in the Town of Niagara. The holiday kickoff parade drew people and organizations from around surrounding counties of Western New York.

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division One recently donated a check to the Carolyn House. The Carolyn House is a transitional program for women and children located in the City of Niagara Falls. The donation will be used for renovating children's bedrooms.

For 12 years, the Electric Lights Parade in the Town of Niagara has helped reel in the start of the holiday season. Last year's festivities brought out several thousand citizens and hundreds of participants in the parade itself to get everyone in the festive spirit. The same can be expected for year 13.

In 13 seasons as head coach of the Niagara-Wheatfield girls volleyball team, Brandi Cochran hoped that one day her team would raise a Niagara Frontier League title. The dream became reality on Friday night, as the Falcons' defeated Grand Island, 3-0, in the NFL Championship game.

On Friday night, Buffalo Bills linebacker Preston Brown and Niagara-Wheatfield grad, Justin Gilmore were in attendance at the Falcons' football game in Clarence. The two have helped impact Niagara-Wheatfield football in a positive way this season, collaborating with the school district and booster club to put on N-W's first-ever Friday night football game.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday announced four Western New York communities have been selected to receive up to $10 million in funding from the Buffalo Billion II initiative. The City of Dunkirk, City of North Tonawanda, City of Lackawanna and Village of Gowanda are recipients of Smart Growth Community Funds for projects that utilize existing infrastructure to support placemaking, walkable communities and sustainable development.
